“When the Dragon Meets the Eagle: Oriental Grandeur in the Northwest” is a celebration in concert of 8000 years of the Chinese musical arts -- and a few centuries of Western classical music, too. Audiences will be entranced by the delightful mixture of soulful melodies, energetic percussions and the graceful, precise yet delicate movements of the musicians that are as much of an art as the music itself. Roger Nelson conducts as the Seattle Chinese Orchestra, the only traditional Chinese orchestra in the Northwest, performs both renowned favorites and original compositions, melding traditional Chinese instruments with classical Western instruments such as the piano and cello in ways that leave the audience with an enormous appreciation of cultural exchanges.
